Declan Darcy
Aerial Survey Pilot
Where do you live?
Nashville, TN
How long have you been flying?
Four years.
What makes Sol a special place to work?
I think the people really make it feel special. Everyone seems to share the same common goals and the support network is unmatched
Which of our company values resonates the most with you?
When you’re out on rotation, there is a lot of responsibility on your shoulders. Paying greater attention to getting the little things done right is huge for your own success
What do you like most about your job?
Last rotation, I started outside of Los Angeles and ended up in Virginia a couple weeks later. That sums it up pretty well.
What inspired you to choose this career path?
Aviation runs in my family. I was introduced to flying pretty young, and it became clear to me that being a pilot is the best job in the world.
What new skills or knowledge have you gained from working at Sol?
Working all around the country like we do, every place you go is going to have unique challenges that you haven’t seen before. Those challenges are instrumental to my growth as a pilot.
What excites you about our work?
The services we provide are so unique. Obviously everyone here loves to fly in any capacity, but it’s amazing to see how doing something we love can be so beneficial as well.
What makes Sol stand out from the competition?
It’s the support network. There hasn’t been a single moment so far where I was having a problem or needed guidance and it wasn’t readily available.
Favorite hobbies?
Mostly outdoors stuff. I love skiing, golf, biking, etc. If I’m out and moving around there’s a good chance I’m enjoying myself.
Do you have any role models?
My parents have worked so hard to raise my siblings and I and send us all to school. The sacrifices they’ve made to give us the chance to succeed is something that means the world to me.
