Britta Riess
Aerial Survey Pilot
Where do you live?
South Florida
How long have you been flying?
Almost three years.
What makes Sol a special place to work?
The people. Every new rotation that I go into, I continuously meet new coworkers who are just awesome and enjoyable people to work with.
Which of our company values resonates the most with you?
For all the aspects of life, integrity. But for being an exceptional pilot, the little things matter.
Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to for work?
Burlington, Washington. Nothing like flying in the PNW.
What do you like most about your job?
The traveling and the schedule (can’t choose one). But it is a privilege to get to see the US in the way that we do. And every time a shift is over, I’m happy to have the time off. But once it’s time to go back to work, I’m pumped to get back in the plane and do what I love to do.
How did you find this position?
While I was surveying for my previous company in Burlington, Washington, I hit it off with the Sol pilots that were on rotation at the same base. I’m telling you…the people are the heart of this company.
What inspired you to choose this career path?
My dad. He’s an American Airlines pilot and my mom is a flight attendant for them as well. It’s in my blood and I couldn’t see any other future for myself.
What or who is your inspiration?
Why so? My dad, I grew up watching him work for American Airlines and the lifestyle it gave us as a family. It helped me to know what I wanted for my future and how to achieve it.
What is your all-time favorite drink?
I’m a huge advocator for water…gotta keep the organs happy and live a healthy lifestyle (Not even kidding lol).
